Tryer Center was created as an incubator for Starbucks innovation. Founded on the principles of Design Thinking, this center is not only space for creative collaboration and prototyping, but also a new mindset and way of bringing fresh ideas to market.

Developed the Tryer logo from the concept that the Tryer Center space and mindset is ever changing and dynamic.

Collaborated with strategy and design team to create the overall look & feel, including patterns, color palette, and organizational systems within the space for easy navigation.

The postsecondary team at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation had been gathering data while working with colleges, universities, intermediaries, and state systems for many years. This data led them to a set of theories and tools that would help lead to improved student outcomes.

Helped strategy team to synthesize complex theories and ideas into a clear and consistent visualization system for easy comprehension.

Worked with user researchers to develop a more streamlined survey tool and output visualization prototypes to help inspire meaningful conversation that leads to prioritization of next steps for the leadership team.

Shifted color palette for accessibility, to better serve those with color vision issues and overall meet our audience’s needs more thoughtfully.

While in the University of Washington’s User Centered Design certificate program I collaborated with a small group that held focus groups, created wireframes, and did user testing on an app designed to track periods and fertility.

This Alaska Airlines meeting and uniform launch was an opportunity to celebrate the previous year’s success and introduce both the company and the customer to the new test line created by Luly Yang.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborated with strategy and design teams to create a compelling visual language, which spoke to the concept of movement and versatility.

Worked alongside strategy team, the Alaska Airlines team, and Luly Yang to map out and systematize the on-screen visuals with the choreography of the fashion show. It was crucial to highlight the details of the garment, the real-life employee models, and the overall design process.

Helped to art direct and find a cohesive look & feel with all visuals throughout the event including video, presentation media, and signage.

Co:Lab was a convening held at the foundation for key players in postsecondary education to align on a system designed for accelerating student success across the country. During the meeting attendees were asked to discuss and workshop new ways of thinking about the ways in which we currently approach equity in higher ed.

Worked with the team to create a compelling prologue experience that was centered around the Framework for Student Success sculpture, a visualization that was developed as a basis for the Accelerator Tools system.

Helped to create workshopping tools and structures for attendee feedback on all theories and accelerator tool materials and concepts.

The Starbucks Senior Leadership Experience was a gathering of district managers from across the country to align on new strategies and differentiators, while bringing them all back to why they do what they do, to create meaningful human connection. The experiences and learning sessions were held in various locations around the Seattle downtown core.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborated with strategy team and lead the visual design of the gallery experience at Bell Harbor, which focused on the customer-partner connection. This experience included customer stories and stats about both digital and in-person human interaction.

Worked closely with the developers of a mobile app that featured proximity beacon-enabled sections of exhibits within the conference, as well as a walking tour of Starbucks retail stores located in Seattle.

Partnered with executives and their liaisons to create compelling visuals for both opening and closing keynote sessions, which spanned three wide screens in the conference center.

While in the University of Washington’s User Centered Design certificate program I collaborated with a small group to create a persona, user flows, and wireframes for a website that would provide personal shopping for families on a budget.

While leading the design efforts on the Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Seattle Opportunity Fair & Forums, I was able to see the ways in which the job fair structure was and wasn’t working.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Audited past event to develop systems that would help youth navigate a large variety of hiring companies, community based organizations (CBOs), and workshops.

Created a toolkit that was easily packed up and shipped to various locations throughout the country. These tools are still being used to this day on both large and small scale versions of the event.

Designed a system of adaptable signage for new companies and CBOs in each touring city. Color coding was crucial for easy to understand navigation within a large space.

Worked with 3D designers to help organize and create an optimal user flow for learning opportunities and engaging with volunteers.

Research Sparks gathered institutional researchers to discuss and workshop ways in which their research priorities and strategies would lead to better student outcome for low-income, first generation, and students of color.

Gathered and created a gallery out of research from attendees to share and discuss with peers, including especially compelling data presented in unique ways.

Collaborated with strategy to develop various tools for workshopping and exploring new ways of approaching data at institutions that prioritize equity.

Created all signage to add clarity and move people through the space efficiently, while adding visual interest and excitement.

Mount Sinai Hospital’s community reach programs include healthy eating and urban gardening initiatives. We created a toolkit that could be used to share care studies and learnings from various places in New York.

While working through ways to make in person tours of various Starbucks stores in downtown Seattle, we imagined a way to use an app to help guide observation, learnings, and discussion. We included RFID technology so that all lessons were shown to users as they entered a certain store.
